you should feed them good clean food, like diluted milk with roti…card is for verifying that you take care of them and are not doing anything illegal, its an endorsement that you are doing a legal thing!…

I had a horrible experience while giving food to stray puppies, i am a resident of Pune and i used to feed stray puppies, and one resident from my area mid 50’s stopped me and took my name, contact no and also my vehicle no and asked not to feed the dogs as the area belongs to him and i am not supposed to feed any of the stray dogs not even puppies…and the shameful thing was he started to discriminate me as i am from gujarat and i am only the guest in pune and should behave like guest….i was alone and he and his family stared ganging upon me i had to leave the site….i dont know what to do…i am not aware of any of the laws…

You should get in touch with local Animal Welfare Activists in the city of Pune and they would guide you on the ground like Pune FAPO (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.600070180022153.1073741831.120832497945926&type=3) or PFA Pune’s Manoj Oswal, besides ofcourse reading the material and laws put up by here on the Jaagruti blog to inform and make yourself aware of the laws and rights in your favour and also in favour of the dogs you care for…

other than the sending the form to AWBI what else precautions i need to take as i really want to feed and take care of the stray puppies but without any one bothering me.

Please try to get the dogs you feed sterilized and vaccinated with the help of local animal rescue groups, puppies can be vaccinated now and you can get them sterilized too after they reach 6 months of age.

They are not issuing the card these days. AWBI has relocated its office from Chennai to NIAW Ballabgarh. Kindly google and call them.
