  1. god bless u all…u r doing such a grt job by helping helpless soul..may god give u and ur family a peacefull life.

  2. From: Rakesh / Mumbai.
Great work, I am extremely pleased to find this site.
    God help you all.

    Further my question is:
Can a Housing Society Charge Rs. 500.00 per month for keeping pet dog at home ?? is it legal ??

  3. hey just a quick question.. do these animal welfare centers help in rescuing a snake from someone’s house as well? and what if a person lives in malad and wants to get a venomous snake rescued.. would the welfare members come all the way from dadar or navi mumbai to rescue a snake? if no then where should a person living in malad call to rescue the snake??

    • Yes, please call them and they will put you in touch with the organisation or rescuers in Mumbai near your area who could come over, trained in rescuing a venomous snake….please be patient, don’t get disheartened if you have to call a few numbers to coordinate this or any other animal rescue effort..persistence pays

  4. I have been feeding and giving treatment to street dogs by consulting animal doctor at thane. but when i see the rickshaw fellows drive fast and don’t realise that the dogs also get pain if they hurt them. they don’t even slow down their speed if the animal is on the way, this hurts me a lot. is there any way that can be adopted to bring awareness in them to know about the pain of other living beings.

  5. is there any hospital in Mumbai with best treatment for dogs n not expensive? i have a 10 year old Indian Spitz(female) who is not eating anything for last one week n her condition is getting worse. please help

    • You should take her to a good vet near your place, she would need personal attention as she is now ‘old’ as well for a dog. Contact PAWS Thane or Bombay SPCA to see if they can refer any good vets or affordable hospitals in the city as we are based out of Delhi and wont know much on this. And if she is not eating, you need to immediately get her blood tests done and get her administered Glucose. We wish her a speedy recovery.

  6. 10 days back i brought home two kittens since their mother was not found i gave them lukewarm milk mixed with some water, now from 2 days one of them is not drinking milk (drinks only 2-3 spoons and when done forcefully) but the other one eats biscuits, breed when mixed with milk and is active…..please help me…i want to save that kitten from disease? what medicine or syrup should i give and i cant afford to take them to the vet.

    • Request you to please contact local Mumbai based animal Organisations like PAWS Thane (Their helpline number is 9820161114 (09:00AM to 09:00PM))and request them to guide you on what to feed young kittens with. I am really sorry we have no experience ourselves of tending to kittens or cats and would be unable to help you out with guidance on this subject

  7. Any 24 hour helpine for dogs in kharghar navi mumbai?? IDA turbhe said they cant come to kharghar? please help. a stray is in serious pain.

    • Sorry Sir, we won’t be knowing any, being Delhi based, may be you can consult PAWS at Thane on their helpline and request them to guide you with an answer to the above question PAWS Thane Helpline : 9820161114 (09:00AM to 09:00PM)

  8. I have a 13 year old pet female dog and my mother had been taking care of her. However, due to my mother’s health it has been difficult to take care of her. Is there any way we can find a home or place for the pet?
    Awaiting your response.
    thank you

    • Mam, your dog is very old at 13 years of age, she won’t be able to survive at a shelter, so please don’t consider putting her in any of them, where she is most likely to die of depression in a few weeks if not days. As for finding her a new home, not many would adopt an old dog. Please consider keeping her with you or putting her to sleep peacefully.

  9. We have a serous problems with dogs in our area. My husband comes back on a bike late from work and is chased and bitten by these dogs. I myself am a dog lover but I am unsure what to do in this case. Sterilization does not really help. a couple of dogs were not sterelized last year and they had a litter , which ahve grown and now all those dogs are also not sterelized. They are becoming a menace. Could you provide a solution

    • If you are a dog lover, then surely these dogs wont be barking at your husband or chasing him. Try petting these dogs, making friends with them, may be your husband can carry a pack of biscuits with him and feed them every night…and not drive the bike too fast. Also, as a dog lover, please take the initiative to get these dogs sterilized 100%, leaving even one female dog unsterilized defeats the purpose. Dont call them a menace if you actually love them, doesnt suit you.

    • Im not sure about other NGO’s, but you could try contacting ASHA 9820127085. This NGO showed promise, by treating a stray pup in my area.

  10. in my society there 10 dogs in which 8 r female 5 is sterlized but 4 r there to be in that 2 hv given puppies now they r 1 mnth old is there any place where we can leave these puppies bcause they just cm under the vehicles n which they suffer a lot n also some die please help

    • Mam, pups wont make it for long even at the shelter, as they will contract infections there owing to their low immunity. Please consider getting them vaccinated instead and letting them be on the street, and the healthiest and luckiest of them all will surely survive and Please do get/make the effort to get all other dogs in your areas sterilized, so that you dont have to bear such agony again.

      • that is absolutely the correct answer. we all have to take some responsibility and action ourselves. we cannot just depend on others. please ask your friends and relatives and neighbours if they want to adopt. the ngos have their hands full.

  11. I have 4 cats 3 Female and 1 male. Now I am thinking of relinquishing 3 of them and Will keep the 4th One. So DO any organization adopts such animals.Reason of doing so is I am unable to take care of all So i find other option better that someone else who does caring work of animal will do better work for them. Please reply experts sir/madam PLease

    • No Sir, there are no such places where the cats can be taken care off the way a family does…in a shelter they will be subjected to a life in a cage and would give up soon due to depression and loneliness. Kindly reconsider your decision of abandoning your pet cats. Thanks

  12. I incessantly complained to a number of dog welfare centres, like Karuna, Manav Mandir, Asha,Ahimsa, IDA, about an injured pup in Borivili. To my utter surprise, none of the above blinked an eyelid to help the said stray. These NGO’s I guess are only money making bodies

    • You may try taking the pup to a nearby vet on your own Sir, no point blaming anyone..for blaming wont help the pup in any way. You may check with Welfare of Stray Dogs in Mumbai on the nearest good vet you could take the pup to. Often, pups dont survive for long in shelters as they contract infection owing to their low immunity at young age, and that often ends up being the reason that pup rescue calls are left unattended at times.

  13. Thanks….Just to inform….that a volunteer from ASHA visited the said site with their ambulance and treated the dog. I have been asked to administer some medication for a couple of days. Lets hope the pup’s wound heals and is able to live a normal life

  14. I had rescued a stray kitten who was stuck under a life. I visited the vet and took good care of her for a week. Her wounds have healed and she is up and running. Can I find a shelter for her?

    • If she is fine Preeti, let her run around and be happy with her freedom on the street…life in a shelter is no life…she will be robbed of her freedom, and caged for life there amongst sick animals.

  15. I want to adapt a golden retreiver pup.can u advice from where can i adapt one. im in mumbai.im desperate to have one but i cant afford to buy one.so im adapting…can u advice from wr can i adapt….

  16. hello myself Rakesh residing at the Ghatkopar west area, would like to inform you tht few people have bought 2 catels, and hav not givng them proper food n water. which resulted in to a death of 1 of them, they cry whole night
I’am sure the second 1 is also going to die,
I would appreciate if u help the poor animal.
as soon as possible the adress is.
shree ganesh maidan opposite to shree iishwar mandir, gavedevi road ghatkopar west mumbai
400 086 (landmark is behind shani temple)
    mi contact details 9820 933 906.

    expeting for the instant help
    good day.

    • Sir, you may check with the local wildlife department staff if they have any parakeet requiring rehabilitation with a family for life, owing to the bird’s inability to fly ever again in life….the reason we are advising you to do the above is because the Indian rose ringed parakeet is otherwise a protected species under the Indian wildlife protection act of 1972 thus making it illegal to keep it as a pet.

  17. Hi iam living in chembur, we have a colony street dog whose in lot of pain. we came 2 knw that some1 has badly beaten it. the dog cant sit. we have called BMC animal center people they gave him painkiller but sd we need 2 admit the dog as its condition is critical. where can we admit the dog where it can get immediate attention.

    • Hi, we replied to your comment via the e-mail the other day. Please check with PAWS Thane on 9820161114 on the nearest animal hospital/rescue team that could attend to this dog near Chembur

  18. You could call Ms Maria (Asha dog welfare centre) on 9833684434. I faced a similar problem and I got the dog admitted at Parel. You should be willing to pay her Rs.500 which Im told is the normal charge to admit the dog.

  19. i live in andheri ..we have a dog in our building who is coughing a lot since the past 2-3 weeks..i already informed “karuna” 10 days earlier but still their van did not come…plz suggest some other association which provides ambulance service..and do some medication..plz reply as soon as possible.

    • Please try giving him Ampoxin 500 mg twice a day for three days. we have tried it for respiratory infections and it has worked well. You can get this medicine off a local chemist shop

  20. hi ihad seen one dog at dadar near kabutarkhana he was in very bad condition his one eye was infected by puss i feel very bad about him from that moment i just thnkg about that dog can anybody help him for tratment

    • Please call on PAWS Thane helpline 982016114 and check with them if they can guide you to the animal hospital/rescue service nearest to Dadar, where you have spotted this dog….but just calling anyone won’t help, you have to go and locate this dog and be there while they come all the way to take him to the hospital…thats the way this work should be done
