ANIMAL HELPLINES IN THE CITY-DELHI & NCR
*Please note (update as on 3rd June, 2010 till present) : Regarding Circle of Animal Lovers, Neb Sarai, Saket-Delhi. This NGO been served a show cause notice by Animal Welfare Board of India and MCD in view of the string of complaints and inspection reports received against their functioning and ABC Work, so in the best interests of animals and their well-being, it is advised to all of you to refrain from using their services for either dog sterilization work or any other animal work till they come out clean.

A thing to remember:
Delhi is a big city with lots of traffic problems so please maintain your calm. All NGOs are understaffed and have limited resources, be with the animal till the ambulance arrives, best option is that you try dropping the animal to the nearest shelter yourself. Follow up on the animals care and make sure that it gets released in the area where it was rescued from (for that is the animals home after all! and If your pockets and hearts allow, please try and make a donation to the hospital that treated the animal to cover the costs of the animals treatment.

Yes Rashmi, have sent you an e-mail on this subject. Your dogs can be sterilized for free at PAWS, a shelter located at Vasant Kunj (Masoodpur Village) that is funded by the MCD and Animal Welfare Board of India for carrying out street dog sterilizations in Delhi. Just make sure that you continue to monitor your dogs at all steps during this procedure, till the time they are fit to be released back into your area after being operated upon. You can call us for any guidance you may need on 99589 80909. Thanks.

We are a group of 5-6 school students and we feel extremely sad the way stray dogs get killed in road accidents by a car/truck etc. We came to know that Municipal Corporation Delhi/Gurgaon encourage volunteers for getting these poor creature sterlize. We request you to advise us how should we proceed on this front. What is the target officials are looking forward to acheive, keeping in mind the species existence in the long run. Please advise us on the details provided.
I spoke with you regarding a stray dog on 26/03/2011, who was badly hurt 2-3 days ago near my company in gurgaon.
You gave me a number of Friendicoes gurgaon but I was unable to get in touch with him. It might because of network problem or may be they are not interested to entertain any complaint.
If they dont take any action, can I complain about it to you..
It seems you are doing a very great job in saving lives of animals.
Thanks
Hi, there are 5 beautiful puppies outside my studio. Market Ppl have been taking care of them; but now they are about a month old and we fear that they might go ahead and travel towards the road where there is a lot of traffic, and so we are concerned about their safety. I clicked their pics and posted on Facebook, for adoption , but there is no response yet. Can you please suggest what to do, especially if there is someone you know that can help them get adopted by people who would care for them ? Please help us save these little puppies. I can be contacted on 9716005584. Thanks

I want to help street dogs
Get the stray dogs of your area sterilized by making a call at the numbers listed above. And give them some food like biscuits, roti and water in a bowl every time you get a chance to do so. Your action will also encourage some others to do the same. That all! It’s the best way to help street dogs.
Today was our first experience of PFA when I called “Anita” and the doctor and an attendant came immediately for help and took the injured dog with them. I am so proud of you…god bless you in your efforts!
Wanted to report a hurt camel on noida but can’t get through your ambulance or help line nos.
Replied to your query over the e-mail Anisha. Hope that helped.
From my point of view its men menace as we controlled all the resources and no water and food l left for animals.we use and throw them n also expect that they sit at one place without food n water.
ALL THE BEST
NICE WORK
Greetings,
The purpose of this mail is to complain against NTPC society in Sector 33, Noida who have tightened a LANGUR from 1-2 years.
I recently shifted to sector 33 and saw a LANGUR in NTPC society in sector 33. On enquiry, I found that the LANGUR is being tightened with a rope from last 1-2 years in the same society. Yesterday night, when I saw him, I felt really sad as the LANGUR sit on a wall tightened to a tree and trying to sleep. He was continuously bitten by mosquitoes and all and was not able to sleep at all.
Somebody told me that they are doing so to avoid the monkeys. I was surprised to hear on how they can do something like that to a animal and can take his freedom.
I came to know that this same situation is from last 1-2 years. I am afraid that the LANGUR will die if the situation persists in the future as well.
This is a straight forward case of animal cruelty in a NTPC society where the, so called, educated people live.
Please see if anything can be done.
mail me at hlgoyal@gmail.com, if any assistance required.
Very glad to be among everyone of you here.We are talking about animals, because we can understand their expression of fear, pain, anger and love they show towards us.In this world, other than human beings there are ANIMALS AND PLANTS.We don’t hurt an animal not because it express its feel, but, because we understand its expression of pain. That means, till we know that a living being is in pain we don’t react.Let me come to the point,I am talking about the PLANTS AND TREES.Sometimes in your life till now you might have a living plant under your feet when you were walking in the park or another place. But you wouldn’t have reacted the same as you would have put your feet on a puppy, right?
why?
Because the puppy would have reacted by crying, but in case of plant it reacts but it cannot express its pain.
Please take care that you don’t stomp a plant
once again,
Plants feel the same pain as animals do,the difference is how they express
THANK YOU
I fully agree with you. Even small creatures are also affected by our innocuous actions.e.g in my home I take care that I never trample ants which are rarely noticed. In parks too, I try not to stomp a plant if I see one while running. But the fact is that every plant and animal species tend to over-populate(if given proper resources) on account of their inherent nature to reproduce. That means we also have take care to retain balance and see to it that every thing is in its proper place else it would become impractical to do these things in long run.
hai vasudha ,good work
Hey what happened to the cases in which no reply has been posted like in the case of Lalita,Prabhuta and others who wanted to join?
One needn’t join organisations to work for animals, you can do anything you like on your own and utilize all the information we have shared to make more people aware and compassionate human beings and thus this world a better place to live for all.

Hi, I do believe this is a great blog. I stumbledupon it ;) I’m going to come back once again since i have book-marked it. Money and freedom is the greatest way to change, may you be rich and continue to help others.
Last year, My wife pickup one pupppy from the street, and now we are taking care of it. It is propoerly vaccinated in regular interval, have proper vaccination card; but for last six month, the dog is enjoying in the street and like to come home only in the day time that is also not regular. The dog is so found of car is that every day it want a car ride, and i also love to take it for the ride. (As the dog doesn’t come home regulary so we called it rainbow dog- we don’t now when the rainbow will come , but whenever, it comes it give pleasant feeling). In the mean time some body hit the dog with bike and now one of it’s leg is injured. Today, the assistant of the Pet Doctor advised me to sterlized the dog in order the keep it at home. He told me that once the dog will be sterlized, it will not go out and will remain at home. Need two advised from you:- Is it true that the after sterlization the behaviour will change and if so then which are the best place to sterlize dog. I live in South of South Delhi. Prem
Prem, as spoken to you over the phone yesterday, please take this dog to Dr. Vijay and get his leg treated first…then ask him any concerns and queries you have on the subject of dog sterilization from him only. Yes, the behaviour of the dog does change post sterilization and generally the dog becomes a bit calmer, but that doesn’t mean he would like to ‘stay at home only’
Hi, I am student in iit delhi. There is a dog around here who is badly injured and ill also. Please help……..my address is (vindhyachal hostel , iit delhi) . His all hairs has gone and he just howl like anything since 2 days.

Their numbers can be accessed from http://www.friendicoes.org. Alternatively, you can send the dog for treatment to Sonadi Animal Hospital in Najafgarh. Their ambulance can be requested on 9212131218. Third Option if you can cover the pick up costs, a private animal ambulance can help drop this dof for treatment to the animal hospital 9211217469.
Hi! I live in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad in a society flat. There is an Indian dog as a pet in the adjacent society. The owners do feed it by hand at times but never take it out for a walk. The dog is always tied in the balcony whether it’s hot or it rains and completes its ablutions there only (they do clean their balcony) At night they take him in and tie it to the inside of the door. It’s really heartbreaking to see the dog barking and whining with the sad look while the owners don’t bother. It’s not like they are an old couple who cannot take care of the dog. It might be that they are scared the dog will snap at them but then they are making it like that. Can anything be done for the dog?
hey…I posted about a dog who is never taken out for a walk. Today the dog got an overdose of beating with the wiper. It’s lying quitely in the balcony…..can you please help the dog?
Please contact People for Animals Delhi to report such cases. Their team may be the best equipped to handle such cases of pet animal abuse. and some of their rescue team members as far as we know are based out of Ghaziabad only.

hi,
respected mam,
today i was in a very weird situation and was asking for an answer to myself to
a question which has a definate answer to it but it is still complicated.
Actually , i have
a pet dog which is a street dog and we take care of that dog and he is a vaccinated dog as well.
now daily we give him food and due to which it is but obvious that he will go for the natures call …
now here is my weird situation whenever i go out and he tries to do potty one or the other person living there shouts at
the top of their voices advising me for taking the dog elsewhere so that the dog dont do potty in front of their gate.
so my question is where is the dog suppose to go and do potty……is the road on they do potty belongs to goverment of india or the person who has the house in front of it.
if the road comes under government of india than i really want to understand the right procedure or right way to answer those people because its better to have a solution than daily fights
.
please give an answer to this question or the rules to handle people of india.
thanks and regards
Ankita
Rules to handle people of India: don’t listen to their non-sense or if you do, as they say ek kaan se suno aur dossre se nikaal do and that is the only way to live in peace. Just make sure your pet dog is on a leash and you have him vaccinated..try to train him to walk with you out of the colony to do his job, he may learn gradually.
Can he do potty in a public park not where people walk but on mud in a corner if we are staying in a colony and not in society flats
Nobody can stop you quoting any law. We assume you are being a responsible pet owner and have your pet on a leash. Try covering the potty with some litter or by kicking some mud off the garden floor…people being people will still harass you, IGNORE them :)
Hi! I want to bring to your attention the serious hazard posed by telephone towers that have come up in residential areas to animals. My next neighbour has a tower atop his terrace and yesterday I saw a bird dangling upside down with one leg stuck in some wire or rope at the top of the tower. No one has rescued the bird even after seeing its frantic struggle to free itself the whole day. The callous attitude of the house owners adds insult to injury. People scream about the danger these towers pose to humans but nothing compares to a living being hanging helplessly on one foot. My heart breaks to say that it seems late now to rescue the bird but i want to initiate some action against the tower owners for improper provisions. Kindly suggest.
The bird was most probably stuck because of a kite string wound on the tower/wire/tree branch. There are ways in which you can help such birds, read this more inspiration http://jaagruti.org/2011/07/31/a-school-presentation-a-teacher-delhi-fire-service-and-a-rescued-pigeon/
Hi All,
This is Nihal from Delhi, i am a big cat lover, i want to adopt a Cat (not indian breed) if someone has please let me know, leave me a message at 9999503472
You can check on cats available for adoption from Ms. Amritika Phool – 09811255370, who helps foster many rescued cats and kittens.
Dear Nihal,
I have kittens, but they are Indian. I saw your specifications on them not being Indian but I am still writing. I stay in a hostel and a cat gave birth to a litter of three, one male , two female on 7th March, 2013 in my room. I am taking care of them for the time being, but if they do not find loving home they will become stray in a month or so. In fact once they start trotting and get inquisitive, they may not be treated very kindly by the hostel residents. Therefore I cannot keep them safe and well guarded for too long. So if you are willing to adopt or know someone who is, it will great. Thanks in advance,
Debleena.
Please feel free to call me at 9873201923.

i don’t know what organization are doing..i called up at least…7- 8 organizations…none of them…keep the puppies they don’t provide a shelter house…none of them..not even a single one…if u call at one org. they would give you the number of another Org…why don’t you provide shelter for them…why is not the concerned authorities doing their job? WHAT ABOUT THE SMALL PUPPIES WHO ARE LYING ON THE ROAD..and people are so insensitive ,they can’t cooperate..they have got hell lot of problems..all the organizations they only treat the dogs..but should the concern be only limited to the treatment? should not we all work together in eliminating this problem..dealing it with utmost concern and showing love and patience towards these..innocent animals..? we can work together and make a differance a huge one..please help..please..
Kriti, they are all doing their job, I am sorry to say its you who are ignorant of the affairs because puppies are not meant to be in shelters amidst hundreds of other sick animals, their immunity is weak/poor and they will contract infection in there and die, thats the reason no animal hospital in delhi takes in puppies unless and until they are accident hit or injured in some other way, only to treat them…it is you who are at fault who think that shelters are ‘lovely’ places where ay cute cuddly puppy you take pity on on the road can live for the rest of his life.
EXACTLY.. that’s what i am saying..there is no shelter facility..for dogs..you are saying that pups will die because they are weak..and less immune..then as per your knowledge allow me to inform you that organizations won’t even take a full grown up dog who’s injured they would treat them that too {not sure} i have personally seen the conditions of dozens of organizations and the kind of treatment given..only few of them works honestly and are in real sense”non profit”…..i must say you probably don’t understand what i am saying… of course…i am not asking for shelter homes.,..or grand palaces…for puppies or dogs to live their luxuriously all their lives..!! it’s for time period..until they learn to take care for themselves..by just vaccinating..and taking in an injured dog…population can’t be controlled.and furthermore…there is no harm even if the dogs are given shelter be it pups or big dogs..i personally had a talk with several people they would treat the animal/pups/dog/ whatever and then would release them again..on the roads..so that he can get hit again..be again treated…and it follows..so in my view ignorant are those..who write in their blogs in capital letters mind you..SHELTER FOR STREET PUPPIES AND DOGS and upon calling ..they would we don’t provide shelter…!! that’s what i am talking about..either don’t write..and if you write..then for god’s sake ..work on it!
We don’t want to argue with you, for we do what we feel is right and we take in injured animals in our home verandah or get them admitted in a hospital, sponsor their medical treatment (they may all be ‘non profit’ but they do seek donations/need funds to do all the good work they aim to do) and then once they have recovered, we release them back to their streets. If all hospitals or people like us who foster them to recovery, keep holding onto healthy treated animals, where will there be a space to treat a sick animal actually in need. A well-meaning advice to you: just do what you can with your own hands and stop blaming others, the blame game would never end and it will only make you a bitter sounding helpless person. Do whatever good you can and become a better person whose actions speak louder than their words.
i am an old lady and now i cant look after my dog who is 12 years old. I want to give him to a society where they will care for him. I live in New Delhi. plz let me know about it .
Mam, if you are old, so is your dog at 12 years of age, if you can’t look after him, how do you think any other ‘society’ will who aready have hundreds of injured animals to attend to daily will be able to give ‘your 12 year old dog’ the attention and care he needs at this age…a dog who has lived in a home all his life, how can you even imagine he would survive in such a situation away from you..if you don’t want this dog of yours anymore, please consider euthanising him i.e please consider putting him to sleep by taking him to a good vet, he will be gone in a matter of few seconds with you by his side, than crying for you when you dump him ‘somewhere’
Big ups Jaagruti :)…what an sensitive and up to the point reply..i hope Gurmeet ji gives a second thought on her decision..that dog needs all the care and love to go through his/her old days. Its not just a dog he/she is part of that home and family. Kindly give away the idea of separating him/her from that house where he/she spent all his/her life :(
no grudges for the organizations..people and the concerned people..are working..but only handlfull of them are really working..rest are merely..on phones..providing details..and giving other organizations contact number.
Saw one cow which is found dead near my house so need to get the same picked
Please contact the MCD, as its the municipality’s job to pick up dead animals.
I have a Dog in my street which doesn’t seem to be a stray dog , he is having a difficult time coping with other street dogs. He/She is a very good dog, can you provide him with a safer place to live because he is not gonna make it long in between all other stray dogs . I can’t keep him with me because i already have one pet dog . Please help.
You may contact the animal hospital nearest to your place by browsing thru the list mentioned up on this page and see if they are willing to take this dog in and put him up for adoption. Though, life in a shelter is no life.
they are very gentle
Today a puppy was rammed by a car in front of me. I think his legs got injured with the impact. How i can i help him. I live in Noida sector 52. Please guide me. Here is my mail id : garry2361323@gmail.com
Please take that pup to SPCA Noida (Mr. Vineet 9818300080 in there may be able to guide you further)
i live in janakpuri…i wanted to know a society who rescue dogs..there are small puppies nere my house and moving vehicles might kill them because they are very small so if any charitable society could take them and look after them.
Animal Hospitals/Shelters will not take in pups as they are most likely to catch infection in there amongst many other sick injured animals..the best way to help puppies is to place them in safe locations within your society only (may be an abandoned park or some other place, pray for the best and by nature’s law, only the fittest would survive) and from your end, you may get them vaccinated when they are about a month old. Mangal is a freelance paravet 9211217469 can be paid and called for this vaccination service, if you are willing to bear costs.
Hi, I live in Hari Nagar, New Delhi. Last night at around 1:30 a.m., some of the heartless people of our colony attacked some of our street dogs and beat them mercilessly till they were unconscious. They then took them away along with their puppies. God only knows, whether they are alive or have been killed (I would rather say murdered). I want to know what can be done in such a situation. I am sure an MCD Van would not have come late in the night. It looks like a deed of some of our locals only. Isn’t there a law and a punishment to those who commit such dreadful acts in the name of population control??
If you saw this happening at that hour, you should have called the Police then and there! Or called us as soon as you heard this news, posting a comment is no solution to such serious issues. Or you could have called any of the numbers that are listed on this page, like People for Animals who have expertise in dealing with such cruelty cases.
How do we get rid of a bat on our terrace.

Hi,
There is an 8 month old female stray dog in my colony in Ghaziabad. She was abandoned by her mother when she was born and she was hardly a few days old when a car ran over her hand. I took her to the vet and fortunately, she is walking fine now although the hand is quite deformed, Anyways, now my colony RWA are hell bent on relocating all the dogs including her from our society. I have been getting into arguments with them over this but I am not sure till when I will be able to let the dogs remain here. I was interested in getting this particular dog spayed before she gives birth to her first litters so that if she relocated, atleast she will be better prepared to face the tough conditions. Hence, I wanted to check where to get her spayed from and how much will it cost?
Thanks,
Karan.
You may get them all sterilized and vaccinated by coordinating the exercise with SPCA Animal Hospital at Noida (please go and meet and request the ambulance service from Mr. Vineet there at the SPCA Noida hospital 9818300080 or anyone on http://spcanoida.blogspot.in/2008/04/contacts.html), they won’t charge you, but you may help them with a donation…and once the dogs are sterilized, no municipality vehicle can pick them up. Fight it out please and get ALL street dogs in your colony sterilized, then the RWA can do nothing wrong with them ever ever again
Hi,
I wanted to get a stray 8 month old female dog sterilized. I don’t mind bringing her myself and waiting for the procedure to finish so I can take her back. I plan to keep her with me for a couple of days till she heals completely after which I will let her go. Can you tell me where can I get her sterilized and what will it cost?
THanks!
Dr. Vijay, whose clinic is at Ramesh Nagar Metro Station does surgeries of street dogs with caretakers at his clinic in afternoons, please fix up an appointment with him on 9810054693. Hope that helps.

Hello, I am from Old Rajendra Nagar, in block # 12. There are 4 monkeys in our locality, is there any way that they can be transferred to a zoo? They are a little aggressive and can hurt small children in the locality or even some one might hurl something on them, injuring them!
Any help in this regard will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Kartik
Sir, you mention that these monkeys çan hurt’children, but we assume they haven’t already hurt anyone. Maintain your respectable distance with them and don’t provoke their anger by hurling objects at them…monkey rehabilitation is a long drawn process and the Delhi Wildlife Dept and MCD are still working on the same
Thanks for your reply! Yesterday they did attack a vegetable vendor! All the 4 monkeys had descended on him and were ransacking his cart and he took out a stick and was trying to hit them! This could have proved fatal to any monkey if it would have been at the receiving end!
It’s good to know that the process is underway! I hope some solution is in place before hand rather than initiating action upon some incident!
Thanks!
Kartik
Hi I live in Mayur Vihar Phase 2 Pocket A. I live on the top floor. Out side our building there are few stray dogs. I am concerned about them how they must be protecting themselves in this chilling cold. I want to help them but dont know how to help. Can you please arrange to send them to some shelter home so that they can be protected against this biting cold. My contact number is 8826120808.
Sir, sending dogs to shelters is no solution. Please place some jute boris for them and feed them some warm diluted milk with rotis and they will be fine. God has given them the capability to survive and face natural conditions, all they would need is a little help from humans like you who do care and feel for them.
is there any body who want to donate his dog to me . this my cont no 8285612714.
Hi Vivek we have 2 male stray dog. one rescued after an accident, in the process to get healthy. another one is healthy. If you are interested call me on 9971010412. I tried to call you but your phone was off.
hi,we have 4yr old mixed labrador dog.he is very cute and energetic dog only problem is during winters as they say thts their mating season he becomes quite aggressive and always wants to go out for walk. Is thr any solution for it? Can we sterilize him at this age and its not goin to harm him? Plz reply
Yes, he can be sterilized at this age very easily. His behaviour is natural, all male species tend to get aggressive because of their urge to mate, when they smell females of the same species in their near vicinity (who are on heat). If you are in Delhi, then Dr. Vijay 9810054693 is a good vet where you can consider getting your dog sterilized from.
Hello. I just shifted to Malviya Nagar F block three days ago. There are a litter of puppies about 3-4 months old living behind my flat. All night long there have been torrential downpours, and the crying and howling of the puppies and other street dogs is heart-breaking. I would like to help get these dogs sterilized, and start feeding them. Could you recommend a veterinarian I can call?
Thanks again for your website,
Monamie
Mam, thanks for your kind words on the website. With regard to the puppies, we advise you shift them to a shaded area near their existing location, like an underside/back alley..place a few bories/gunny bags over there to save them from the rain and the chill. With regard to the vaccinations, Mangal 9211217469 is a freelance paravet in Delhi who can help you vaccinate and deworm them at nominal rates. They can be sterilized only when they are 6-7 months old, and Mangal can also help you with the same or you can take them yourself to Dr. Vijay’s clinic 9810054693 in North West Delhi’s Ramesh Nagar who does street dog sterilizations at his clinic for people who tend to street dogs at nominal/minimal costs.

The Indian Air Force (in Ghaziabad) is disposing off an old dog (10 years, German Shepard) because it is no longer fit for duty. Any one interested in adopting him may call 8860622555.
Disposing means what, putting him to sleep OR just abandoning him?
As per policy, old dogs are to be auctioned. If no one wants them, they are to be put to sleep. They are never abandoned.
Thanks Sir. If you have a photograph of the dog and the criteria for the adopted home, you may mail it to Ms. Madhu Goyal on , she is a senior lady who helps put out adoption e-mailers. May be it works.
Hi Vasudha, I live in paramount symphony, crossing republic ghaziabad… I’ve recently shifted in this society… There’s a labrador in one of the flats which is visible from my balcony. its on th 19th floor, I’m on 22nd, opposite to it… Whenever I look, its always in the balcony. I’ve never seen it inside the house. Its given food there only. The dog eats, sleeps, defecates there only. A couple of days back I saw atleast 10 to 12 days of his excreta which clearly means its not being treated well. The dog is left in the balcony even through the nights (considering the recent temperatures, its very cruel).
I’ve not contacted the owners yet but will do so today or tomorrow. But just wanted to know if any intervention should be done if I dont get a favourable resonse. And also that if you could help in this.
Kindly suggest!!
Ishan, please download a copy of the Prevention of Cruety to Animals Act 1960 from this link http://www.envfor.nic.in/legis/awbi/awbi01.pdf. Under Section 11 of the PCA Act, all that you have described this dog is being subjected to, amounts to ÇRUELTY. We suggest you take a print out of the same and speak to the owners of this animal and try and educate as well as gently warn them that what they are doing is inhumane and illegal as well. And if they don’t mend their ways, you will be filing a complaint in the nearest Police Station against these people (Click Photographs with dates in the meantime) and file the complaint against these people (giving full address details, description of cruelty, how it contravenes, which sections of PCA Act 1960) and attach the photos with the complaint. Get a photocopy of the complaint stamped and received by the Police Station and keep it for your records. The Police is mandated, as you can read in the PCA Act 1960 as being the agency responsible for the Enforcement of the PCA Act 1960 at a state/national level, though they may not be aware of it, gently make them aware, don’t loose spirit.

Please be informed that that as per Indian law, street dogs cannot be beaten or driven away. They can merely be sterilized in the manner envisaged in the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2001 (Rules under Indian Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960), vaccinated, and then returned back to their original locations. Gurgaon Municipal Corporation runs the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme with few animal NGOs based out of Gurgaon and they may be contacted for the same, to ensure that the dogs you mention are sterilized. Please read through the articles, http://jaagruti.org/2010/04/18/the-indian-street-dog/ and http://jaagruti.org/information-to-empower-you/indian-street-dogs-and-their-rights/ for a better understanding of the subject.

Sub: Stray dogs menace at C BLOCK & J BLOCK of Mayfield Gardens, Sector 51, Gurgaon.
Dear Sir
We wish to bring to your notice the menace of stay dogs in our area. There more than 15 stray dogs around the main road in between the blocks.
1. The dogs enter our parks making them dirty and unsafe.
2. One dog tried to bit the daughter of a worker. Safety of children in the area is endangered.
3. The traffic on main road is fast and many times we hear screeching tire sounds, even at mid night.
4. Frequent fights in between stray dogs keep happening.
Kindly remove the stray dogs and help in making our neighborhood safe.
Thank you for an immediate and early action.
On behalf of all concerned residents
Good Day

Sir, you seem to be an educated citizen of the country. But your comment seems ill-informed and impatient.
Gurgaon Municipal Corporation runs the Animal Birth Control Programme with few animal NGOs based out of Gurgaon and they may be contacted for the same, to ensure that the dogs you mention are sterilized.
The street dogs help keep the neighbourhood safe! Even Police forces in Naxal infested areas use street dogs to warn them of potential danger. (You may read this http://jaagruti.org/2010/04/18/march-2010-onwards-news-reports-of-maoists-killing-street-dogs-in-different-indian-states/)
Fights may be happening because of a bitch being on ‘heat’. Instances of the same will reduce post sterilization.
The planet was made for all of us to share and peacefully coexist with all species, so humans need to understand to live peacefully and behave around the dogs, if you hit/provoke them/shoo them away, they may react in self-defence.
Please read through the articles, http://jaagruti.org/2010/04/18/the-indian-street-dog/ and http://jaagruti.org/information-to-empower-you/indian-street-dogs-and-their-rights/ for a better understanding of the subject.
I am taking care of 7 stray pups in my neighborhood. Age around 2 -3 months. Is it possible to get them sterlised now and get adopted? kindly provide the appropriate information. Thanks.
Hi,Sterilization can be done only when they are about 6-7 months old. You can however get them vaccinated now, Mangal is a freelance paravet whom you can speak to and negotiate with to get these pups vaccinated now 9211217469 is his number. For putting them up for adoptions, contact People for Animals and take them to the pup adoption stalls they put up in various malls or post their pics on Facebook pages of Red Paws Rescue, Friendicoes etc.Regards.

I live in SFS Flats Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi. There is an adjacent plot belonging to University of Delhi that was unused and filled with bushes and shrubs. There are lots of peacocks living in this plot. Recently, University started construction in this plot and started removing the vegetation due to which peacocks are losing their habitat and wandering in to nearby colonies. Stray dogs try to catch them and I am really worried about their safety. Is there any way by which these Peacocks and Peahens can be shifted to a safe place/zoo? Kindly do something quickly. If I need to inform some other helpline/groups kindly let me know ASAP.
Thanks.
Sir, we suggest you seek guidance on the subject from Wildlife SOS 9871963535. They will be able to communicate this concern of yours to the Delhi Wildlife Department so that these peacocks are safely rehabilitated and dont get poached or killed in view of this development activity.

So true..I had similar experience with PAW vasant kunj. My 5 and a half month puppy died there in the name of proper care at their shelter overnight. I feel devastated.seriously no words to describe. I only end up feel sorry for that creature and full of guilt .why did i left him under their supervision.I feel so bad. People in this world have lost all humanity. This is a world full of cruel people and there is no place for man’s best friend..
there is this 2 months old puppy, he is dewormed n vaccinated.. he urgently needs a permanent home.. he is very loving ryt now he is in a boardng house due to which he has stopped eating.. i. fostered him for ten days bt then my parents didnt allow me to keep him permanently as we already have 1.. plz some1 help him. .. plzzzz…he just needs some love n care… plz some1 help this baby..

Then perhaps you need to find him a good home somehow, he won’t survive for long in a boarding or any other shelter if this is the case.

hello
i have a street dog abt 3 or 4 mnths old and earlier he was bitten by dogs because of which he has lost his tail and his paw is hurt ………..
now i am taking care of him but my apartment people are complaining about him and i am afraid some one will hurt him so i want him to put in a shelter home or any ngo….I am living in vasant kunj kishan garh
PLZZ HELP ME..!
Just get him sterilized once he is 6 months old from PAWS Vasant Kunj. The laws are on your and the dog’s side, no one can stop you from taking care of a dog on the street or feeding them, harming, killing, dislocating the dogs is illegal. Read stories on our blog http://www.jaagruti.org
No. please dont leave your dog in PAW vasant kunj. They are just making money in the name of NGO. On the website, its clearly metion that they have low cost medications for starys and even free sterlization but when i went their and asked they were asking for Rs. 500 for each dog. The shelter is poorly taken care of. I had a bitter experience their as i lost my dog. They asked for Rs. 1500 in case of keeping your dog in shelter until he gets fine. They dont take care properly. My dog was seriously ill. Please never and ever leave your dog in shelters and especialy paw delhi .I have recently lost one of my dog like this. He was ill, i took him to this place in massodpur for medication and decided to leave him for night as he was critical and he may require 24*7 medical attention. They deposited a amount of Rs. 1500 from me and said they will look after the dog and i dont need to worry as there will be 24*7 support on phone. But to my surprise, when i went their at night , i found that shelter was closed from outside and there were no one to look after all the dogs present their. On knocking near by shelter house( meant for care takers), 2 people came out and said that the shelter is locked and they dont have the keys. Care taker will come in the morning. It was so bad experience for me. Even they do not respond to 24*7 helpline numbers. In the morning after constant calling, one guy picked and when asked about my dog, they told he expired. They didn’t even bother to call me and tell that my dog died. They didnt take any interest in caring for the dog. even the doctor present their was more interested in treating dogs of the riches.
Seriously, there is no place for strays.no one cares.

Hi…
After going through your site I am feeling a bit hopeful.
I nave a male Labrador puppy approximately 4 months old. I got him when he was 34 days old.. The most loving and friendly baby. Now the problem is my parents will be away for about 2 and a half months and I am a working women. My baby is too small to live on his own. I am looking for all possible options like having in house maid to take care of him or keep him in creche from 9 AM to 7 PM but nothing seems to be getting materialized,
I stay in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi and please suggest me some options so that my baby remains safe and happy while I am in office. I have a five days working office, so week ends my baby will stay with me.
Hoping to hear something favorable from you. I am in desperate need to keep him safe and sound and I do not want to leave him alone also.
Thanks and regards

Hi i m ajit bokolia Ive a persian cat I want donate my cat some region so help me pls thanx
Sir, you do not want to donate it, you want to ‘abandon’/dump it off because you don’t ‘need’ it anymore…thats what you should write here…not use terms like ‘donation’…allow us to tell you that you are an extremely insensitive person t be doing so, don’t you understand that this cat has feelings too, how will he/she live with the trauma of being thrown away by the family she has looked up to and lived with thus far…try finding a good home for this cat by checking with friends and relatives, else please put the cat to sleep, else that way she will die peacefully than die cursing you for cruelly abandoning her to her fate
i have street kitten( 3 to 4 day”s old) but i can not keep him my self i am working , so plz suggest me
Let that kitten be around in your home whilst you work…gradually as the kitten grows up you can let her be in the verandah and she will find her way..ele try finding a good home for her by putting her pics up on your facebook/social network sites…may be someone would come forward to give this kitten a home…please do not think of putting this kitten in any shelter, that is no life, the kitty will die there contracting infections pretty soon than you can even imagine!
thank u soo much i take care the little kitten
there is a stray dog in my area who is very badly injured…can u plz help me know about any hospital or rescue organisation that can take care of it..i live in pitampura, delhi
We suggest you take the dog yourself to Dr. Vijay’s clinic, its near Ramesh Nagar Metro Station and get the injuries examined, if he needs hospitalisation, then you can consider shifting it to Sonadi Animal Hospital in Najafgarh, that he can direct you to…once the animal has recovered, he can be taken back from the hospital and live his life freely on the street as he was. OR Alternatively you can get the Animal admitted for treatment to Sanjay Gandhi Animal Hospital, at Raja Garden…located behind Shivaji College. Make sure you get the animal back on the street as soon as he has recovered from his injuries..life in a hospital is no life for a healthy animal.

This will resolve all the problem/ complaint arising when you travel and there is no-one to take care of pets, back at home. Travelling with yr pet in Indian railways is easily affordable.
Happy Journey..!!!
I get really unhappy when I drive back from work and see caged birds being sold openly on the road. Is there a way I can free them? I mean walking up to the local policeman will not help. Any other suggestions?
Are these being sold on roadside or in shops?
Hello JAAGRUTI,
I just bought a Labra pup 46 days old. I have a big park opposite my house. BUt to my surprise, pets are not allowed inside the park. I feel this is Un-Human. The planet is for everybody. kindly provide me some info or ruling so that i can fight them out on this issue.
Does the park have a board saying so that you can’t walk dogs inside, then it is better that you either refrain from walking your dogs in that park or do so when there are no people walking around, meaning late at night…best option is to find an alternate park to take your dog to and also walk him on the road…understand that your dog is young now, habits inculcated in him now off walking on the road and other areas will help you avoid confrontation and unnecessary harassment from the people around when your dog grows big in size.
